The Lea Lab is a mechanical tests lab used for both research and commercial testing. There are a range of mechanical, servo hydraulic and servo electric machines with different capabilities and purposes. Many different types of standard tests are performed regularly but the Lea Lab also specialises in bespoke testing. Recent upgrades have seen the implementation of new digital controllers for a significant proportion of the machines and the lab is continuously being improved. The Lea Lab has also recently acquired a state of the art 3D digital image correlation system for full field displacement measurements. The system also has an integrated stereo microscope to enable measurements at a microscale.
